Monday, July 12th, 2010A lot of silly ass band wagon limp dicks will come out and throw his name around, alongside Crumb and maybe Kirby, but many just don’t realize the big picture impact Pekar did for comics and well for many of us creators in the field. He does deserve to be alongside Kirby, Schultz, Frazetta as major influences of well…. all art of the last 30 years or so.
I had a very slim chance to work with him once, when he was working with Modern Tales at one point and pretty much got in line to illustrate. It never came to fruition, because he left to do other stuff. I hate that I lost that chance, now more than every….
