Apocalypse 101 Page. 10
Had to come back here and do a little write up, felt that this was WAAAAY to barren to be left like this.
So I guess I’ll tlaked about making this comic:
As you can see ZY is a simple B&W comic with gray tones and a touch of color (red, really). I lay it all out on pencil working form loose scripts and such from my pocket Moleskine, to my larger Moleskine and then on the bristol board. From there I light box pencils under another sheet of bristol which I ink. This is an awesome thing I tripped over one day off the internet (I think it was Darwyn Cooke talking at SDCC) and helps eliminate the need to Erase pencils for scanning. From there I clean it up a bit, place gutters and then letter
One thing different about it is that that ink these ocics using a combination of India ink and brush with Gel pen. Yes, Gel pen, mostly my beloved P700 which I use for everything and is my carry-all pen for aily drawing and writing. I found that if you use a brush with some water ( I use a portable Waterbrush) and smear the ink a bit you can get some really great gray tones going. I dig this a lot and been finding it more and more useful. In some upcoming pages you see that the Zombies skins start tog et a real texture and look due to this. I’ve been using it a while and and hope to implement it into the return of VIGIL in March. (crossing fingers)
