“Man with a Plan” Pg. 11

….and here comes the Cavalry? What kind MONSTROSITY could Frank be speaking of? And where’s is Seb?

In other news I’ve be trying to wind down as many pages as possible for ZY soon towards a possible format change for the coming year. Let me tell you, when you start on something and it’s starts showing all types of bad-ass-ed-ness to it, you just got to take it as it goes. You’ll see in upcoming pages.  Hopefully I can get more time on the drawing board.

Also I’m happy to blog that STEAMPUNK MAGAZINE, where I have contributing illustration for a good while, is back with a new issue, No. 6 ! I think it like the phattest issue ever too! Tons of stuff on the Steampunk culture, DIY, Short stories, etc. Download if for free or buy your own copy!

This week of course I was, like all of you, look at my screen with eye brows twisted when the news popped Monday morning about Marvel and Disney merging. Wow….that is very….smart I guess?

My view is this: be it however it may come, this can only be good for the Marvel Comics reader. Disney expressed no interest in the publishing of Marvel’s comics and Graphic Novel (so they say) and so as a Marvel reader it’s all good. I want Marvel Comics, not Marvel Movies, or action figures and all that, Marvel Comics. I’m not a big fan of the movies, I do watch them and all that, but maybe as Netflix pic or if they are on Cable. As far as Merchandise, I really don’t buy anything unless it’s a deal or incredibly awesome. The last Comic Book related Merch I could find that I bought,  was a Mini-Doctor doom bust (Because of the Awesome) and some Wolverine Claws (only 10 bucks!) and that was years and months ago.

Now with Disney’s irrefutable better reach at the Younglings, we could possibly see more comics in the hands of kids again, if Disney helps give the push it needs. The younger generation will be able to blink away from the various screen they look at and see that comics exist and hopefully bring in new blood to comics. New Blood means, New Readers, means more comics, and YAY! for the Marvel Comics Reader.

Now as a Creator and Artist, I have no real concern for myself. I’ll still be making and creating comics on my own so it has minimal bearing really, the only thing that makes me go a bit “TSK TSK” about this is that we have these huge conglomerates now of Intellectual Properties like Warner Bros (owners of DC) and now Disney/Marvel and I just hope this doesn’t snowball into say, oh I don’t know SONY ENTERTAINMENT BUYING IMAGE COMICS or FOX BUYING DARK HORSE. And this is not some anti-corporate agenda thing (well not all of it) but this sense of dread that comes of everything being bought up and eaten alive really, into a couple of big phat conglomerates of shit. It causes things to get get stupid slow and Half-assed.

If it happens.

All in all I welcome our Mouse-eared Overlords, just don’t get your White Gloved hands in my Punisher Stories and I think we’ll be fine.

If not, we always have a zombie apocalypse to lean on right?

EVERY WEDNESDAY!
